Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink

I love prestige cosmetics. But I am also a drugstore makeup junkie as well. While prestige brands usually have pretty packaging and great formulas, drugstore brands are value priced and I can simply pick them up at Target where I get my groceries and everthing else (I am big on one stop shopping because HELLO! Small kids to drag with me). Plus drugstore brands often have products that are just as good as their more expensive counterparts.

When it comes to lips, I have been a loyal Lipsense and NYX Butter Gloss girl. Those are my definite go to's. But Maybelline sent me a compementary set of their SuperStay Matte Ink lip colors, so I decided to give them a whirl. I was super thrilled with the results!

The Matte Ink line is touted to last 16 hours. I wanted to put that claim to the test. I exfoliated well with a sugar lip scrub then I applied the lip color as directed and went on about my day as usual. True to the hype, my lipcolor was set and didn't budge. I ate, drank, kissed on my babies, worked in the yard, took a shower, and while the color did fade slightly around my waterline, it was still in place 12 hours later. It would have held longer but I removed it for bed. I am sold!

My only qualm is that the formula is a little drying on my lips. However that is true of most matte lip color so I can get over it. On the plus side, there are several shades to choose from. They are highly pigmented and quite pretty. The color goes on smooth then dries matte. A tube costs less than $10. And it lasts!

The directions suggested using an oil based cleanser or the Maybelline SuperStay Eraser to remove your color. I tried both and since the Eraser is only $7 and change I prefer it. It works well, it is convenient, and it is inexpensive.

To apply:

**My own suggestion: start with clean, dry, exfoliated lips for the smoothest look and maximum stay power**

Step 1. Apply liquid lipstick in the center of your upper lip and follow the contours of your mouth.

Step 2. Glide the liquid lipstick across the entire bottom lip.
